# Data Capture Devices

Choose how your teams capture attendance and work in the field.

AllWage supports several ways to capture attendance, with different options for mobile teams, fixed workplaces and employees working independently. Some methods work offline and make records available centrally after synchronisation; WhatsApp clocking requires an internet connection throughout the conversation.

| Method | What it captures | Who operates it? |
| --------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| AllWage Android app with RFID wristbands | Attendance and activity or unit measurement | A supervisor scans employee wristbands using an Android device with NFC |
| Bio3G facial-scanning app on Apple or Android | Clock-in and clock-out                             | A supervisor scans employee faces using the camera                      |
| Fixed facial or fingerprint device | Attendance, with optional turnstile access control | Employees clock themselves at the installed device |
| WhatsApp                                      | Self-service clocking                              | Employees use their own phones                                          |

**All clocking hardware is sold by our approved partner, Bio3G. AllWage continues to sell RFID wristbands.**

The [AllWage portal](https://app.allwage.com/) can be accessed from a web browser on any internet-connected device. Requirements for capturing data depend on the clocking method you choose.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.allwage.com/fundamentals/data-capture-devices.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
